Konference Mobilising Visegrad 4 Youth - Den 1

Ve dnech 29. března - 2. dubna 2023 se patnáct členů Studentské sekce IIPS vydalo vlakem směrem Maďarsko. Ve městě Györ jsme totiž zorganizovali studentskou konferenci "Mobilising Visegrad 4 Youth." Akci jsme pořádali s dalšími třemi spolky, každý z jiné země V4: z Polska Association of International and Area studies (AIAS) z Jagelonské univerzity v Krakově, ze Slovenska Euroatlantické centrum, a z Maďarska Gyakorlati Diplomácia Szakkollégiuma - CASDP (GYDSZ). Celá akce vznikla díky podpoře Visegrádského fondu.

Poté, co jsme ve středu dorazili do cíle, a ubytovali se, jsme zamířili na večeři do jednoho nejmenovaného podniku. Poté nás čekala uvítací řeč od hlavních organizátorů z GYDSZ. Po formalitách následovala socializace a příprava na nadcházející dny.

Ve čtvrtečním programu nás jako první čekala panelová diskuze od AIAS na téma: “V4 jako východní brána EU.” V rámci diskuze byly probírány vztahy s Ruskem, Čínou, dopad osobního vlivu a dopadů v zahraniční politice, ekonomický aspekt vztahů či různé hrozby pro země V4. Diskutujícími byli Gergely Salát a András Vargas. Diskuzi vedli zástupci AIAS.

Odpolední program jsme poté započali prohlídkou města Györ, při které jsme měli možnost seznámit se s historickou a kulturní stránkou města. Nadšená kolegyně z kanceláře města nás provedla po krásném centru. Prohlídka tak byla příjemným zpestřením čtvrtečního programu.

Po prohlídce města jsme měli možnost poslechnout si přednášku na téma “zahraniční příležitosti zemí V4”, která se zaměřila na příležitosti nabízené Visegrádským fondem. Lekci vedla Nóra Kertész, mezinárodní koordinátorka Ministerstva přeshraniční příležitosti v rámci zemí V4.

Po přednášce nás čekaly tři souběžně běžící workshopy, které se zaměřily na výsledky dotazníku zaměřeného na země V4: jejich kooperaci, příležitosti, a slabé stránky. V rámci všech workshopů jsme interaktivně probírali možné budoucí sféry spolupráce, tok informací a sdílení znalostí, a otázky identity. Cílem workshopu a dotazníku bylo vytvoření návrhu, který bude zahrnut do závěrečné publikace.

Formální tečkou druhého dne konference pak byla debata pořádaná SSIIPS. Nesla se v duchu klasické Masarykovy debaty, až na to, že místo dvou zástupců stran PRO a PROTI tezi byl zástupce vždy jeden. Debata byla moderovaná naším členem Patrikem Jakubem Hlaváčkem. Tématem debaty pak byla “Budoucnost V4”. Stranu, která zastávala skeptický postoj vůči V4, byl Petr Kaniok z Katedry mezinárodních vztahů a evropských studií Fakulty sociálních studií Masarykovy univerzity. Na opačné straně, která podporovala V4 jako takovou, byl Stepper Péter.

Čtvrteční program byl zakončen socializací. Měli jsme možnost zahrát si deskové hry, vyzkoušet speedfriending, a poznávat členy z dalších spolků.

From 29 March to 2 April 2023, fifteen members of the Student Section of the International Institute of Political Science travelled by train towards Györ, Hungary, where we participated in a student conference called "Mobilising Visegrad 4 Youth". We organized the event with three other associations, each from a different V4 country: from Poland the Association of International and Area Studies (AIAS) (Jagiellonian University in Krakow), from Slovakia the Euro-Atlantic Center, and from Hungary the Gyakorlati Diplomácia Szakkollégiuma - CASDP (GYDSZ). The whole event was made possible thanks to the support of the Visegrad Fund.

After we arrived at our destination on Wednesday and checked in, we headed to an unnamed establishment for dinner. Afterwards, we were treated to a welcome speech from the main organizers from GYDSZ. The formalities were followed by socializing and preparing for the days ahead.

In Thursday's programme, the first event on our agenda was a panel discussion by AIAS callled "V4 as the Eastern Gateway to the EU". The discussion focused on relations with Russia, China, the impact of personal influence and repercussions in foreign policy, the economic aspect of the relationship and various threats to the V4 countries. The discussants were Gergely Salát and András Vargas. The discussion was moderated by AIAS representatives.

We then started the afternoon programme with a tour of Györ, during which we had the opportunity to get acquainted with the historical and cultural side of the city. An enthusiastic colleague from the city office showed us around the beautiful city centre. The tour was thus a pleasant addition to Thursday's programme.

After the city tour, we had the opportunity to listen to a lecture on "Foreign Opportunities of the V4 Countries", which focused on the opportunities offered by the Visegrad Fund. The lecture was led by Nóra Kertész, International Coordinator of the Ministry of Cross-border Opportunities within the V4 countries.

After the lecture, we three concurrent workshops were held. The workshops focused on the results of a questionnaire focused on the V4 countries: their cooperation, opportunities, and weaknesses. In all of the workshops we interactively discussed possible future areas of cooperation, information flow and knowledge sharing, and identity issues. The aim of the workshops and the questionnaire was to create a proposal that will be included in the final publication.

The formal end of the second day of the conference was a debate organised by SSIIPS. It was along the lines of a classic Masaryk debate, except that instead of two representatives from the PRO and CON sides of the thesis, there was always one representative. The debate was moderated by our member Patrik Jakub Hlaváček. The topic of the debate was "The Future of V4". The party that took a sceptical stance towards the V4 was Petr Kaniok from the Department of International Relations and European Studies at the Faculty of Social Studies of Masaryk University. On the opposite side, which supported the V4 as such, was Stepper Péter.

Thursday's program ended with socializing. We had the opportunity to play board games, try speed friending, and get to know members from other associations.
